The Audio Technica ATLP 120 Turntable

As a child of the 70's, I was able to see technology change rapidly. I was young enough to see the 8 track and the record player in action as well have the opportunity to develop a collection of vinyl lp's, cassette tapes and eventually CD's and MP3's. I never gave up my tapes or vinyl records but the record player I had, was abandoned after the needle broke and the newer technology came into effect. Back in those days you got tired of the record skipping, the tape recorder was eating your tapes and the introduction of CD's was like a miracle invention. In many ways I still miss those days. I sit here and look at my Michael Jackson "Thriller" album as well as my Isley Brothers and James Brown albums and wonder what they would sound like today. Thankfully for radio and DJ's, some of that music stayed alive. Dj's still use record players for mixing and scratching the songs from back in those days which help those legendary artists live on and be admired by the generation of today.

Even though there is still some demand for record players and turntables, they are very difficult to find in your local electronics store. Unfortunately they have been pushed away to make room for the latest and greatest MP3 Player. I still love my vinyl lp's and would never part with them. I learned that the Audio Technica ATLP 120 was a great quality record player for a reasonable price. It has alot of features a DJ would love but also for anyone looking to digitize their vinyl or just listen to their old albums on a professional, quality turntable.

Audio Technica makes really great professional turntables. This particular turntable has all the features and functions you could possibly need to enjoy your vinyl records. It plays three speeds 33, 45, and 78. It has a USB connection so that you can transfer your vinyl to CD or MP3's. It comes with a balanced tone arm, quartz-controlled pitch lock, a pitch change slider control, selectable internal stereo phone pre-amplifier and a high torque direct drive. The cartridge is upgradable if you want to swap it out with a higher quality cartridge like the Shure M97XE which is highly recommended

If you cannot afford or find yourself buying those high end professional turntables, this one is really the next best thing. It is affordable, well designed, and good quality for the money. Don't settle for the cheapest record player on the market. If you have the music in your collection you should play it on a good record player that will help you re-live the sounds and quality of the music of the past
